Trusting In The Presence of Pain

Trusting In The Presence of Pain

A guided meditation for anchoring in trust and faith during times of pain, difficulty or crisis.

This is especially helpful when you are finding yourself closing down and reacting with negativity to unexpected events or situations.

Often when we close our hearts or react with anger (at God or ourselves or others) this closes the very channel of light that could allow us to feel God's love and grace and support during difficult times.

Welcome everyone to the World Blessings guided meditations. Today's guided meditation is on trust in the presence of pain. This came to me actually while I was walking today and I was reflecting on some of the learning that I have been having about this, and that I believe other people are having as well.

It has to do with the tendency when we are experiencing any kind of pain physical, energetic, emotional, there is this tendency for us to contract around it and also in some cases to develop negativity around it. You know, anger, anger at God, anger at other people or fear or whatever.  I think it's part of the experience that many of us have during this times when we are experiencing a lot of challenges and sometimes those challenges can produce pain.

So that's the meditation that was given to me while I was walking. I was reflecting on this because I actually am very grateful to be walking, because I've had so many times in the last few years where I was physically incapable of walking. So it was a great gift and yet there was a lot of physical pain involved and so this meditation came to me for all of us, not just me.

So this is a good meditation to do in an environment that feels peaceful to you if that's possible. It could be outside if you have a quiet place or inside in a place that feels safe to you. It can be done either sitting or standing whatever feels most comfortable to you and most easy.

So just take a moment now to start bringing your attention inwards and allowing your consciousness to move under the surface of what is your normal waking consciousness.

Most of us were very involved in thoughts and feelings and thinking about what's going to happen and what has happened, and that whole level of our normal or habitual waking consciousness (or for most of us) ... see if you can drop down below that. One way to do that is to place your hand over your heart and just breathe, just focus on your breath. And any time that your mind starts to wonder just bring yourself back to your breath.

Bringing your attention into your heart, breathing, moving your consciousness down. And as your consciousness moves down, allowing your physical and energy body to release any stress that you might be carrying, any emotions or physical sensations of stress, worry, anxiety, allow all of those to drop away as much as possible.

You can imagine that they are being released into the earth. And the holy earth has a way now of receiving and transforming those energies. So just breathing, allowing any stress, any tension, any negativity, just move down through your body and into the earth.

Just allowing your consciousness to move down, experiencing a wave, a wave of the larger pulse of life that we are all a part of, we are all one and connected and there is this large pulse of life that we are a part of. Allowing yourself to breathe in, feeling the pulse of life moving through you. And as you exhale allow any stress or tension, pain, worry, fear to pass out of your body and into the earth.

And now as you start to resonate with the pulse of life and as you breathe into your heart just take a moment from your heart to become aware of the situations in your life that are sources of pain. You're doing this from the space of your heart, from the space of a part of you that can be an observer rather than be in the emotions or feelings, being aware of the sources of pain in your life.

Just experiencing what those are, and from that place of your heart, and from that place of being an observer, just see how the pain affects you. See what kind of habitual responses you might have. With love allowing yourself to see and feel all of this from a space of love, free of judgement or blame, just love, which is the pulse of life, is love.

Now just being in this for a moment, just being still. As you're breathing, imagine these situations that create pain. Imagine for a moment that they are surrounding you like a movie, they're not in you they are around you. Just so you can see them, feel them.

Now, bring your attention and your awareness into your heart and allow yourself from the deepest place in your heart to pray. Pray to bring light to these situations of pain, pray to be shown the way through these experiences, situations and sources of pain. Ask to be shown how to be with these situations of pain. Allow yourself to experience what comes to you naturally from your higher self and from your heart. It could be just a word, a picture, an image. Ask to be shown the way through these situations of pain.

Continuing to breathe into your heart and now asking to be shown one specific action that you can take that will help you the next time that you are dealing with the situation of pain. Ask to be shown one simple action whether it be an affirmation, a prayer, a thought or an action. Ask to be shown something that you can bring into your daily experience from your heart and from your higher self, ask to be shown one simple action or word. Asking to be shown what you can bring from your higher self in your heart into your daily waking consciousness.

Continuing to breathe into your heart, allowing yourself to move deeply, deeply, deeply into your heart. And now place both hands over your heart with a prayer, for you to remember and carry with you what you have received from this meditation.

Giving thanks to those that guide you and those that guide all of us. Giving thanks to God for the light, and the love, and the blessing that's being given to all of us. And when you're ready allow yourself to very gently move your consciousness back up to waking consciousness, moving up. Giving yourself the suggestion and the intention that the light and healing from this meditation will stay with you in all parts of your daily life. May it be so.

I send you lots of love and many blessings. Thank you so much for joining me.
